“Become Job Creators, Not Job Seekers” – Suresh Umap at Entrepreneurship Awareness Program

D. Y. Patil College of Engineering & Technology, Kasaba Bawada, Kolhapur, organized an Entrepreneurship Awareness Program to inspire students towards innovation, startup culture, and self-employment opportunities.

The keynote speaker for the event, Shri Suresh Umap, former Regional Officer of MSME and President of Shivmudra Industrial Foundation, encouraged students to become job creators instead of merely searching for jobs. He emphasized that today’s youth should focus on entrepreneurship, innovation, and self-reliance by developing problem-solving abilities and a startup mindset.

During the session, students received valuable guidance on startup development, business opportunities, risk-taking abilities, government schemes, and financial support available through MSME initiatives. The speaker explained how innovative ideas, determination, and strategic planning can help young entrepreneurs build successful ventures.

The program was organized jointly with the support of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, and aimed at creating awareness about entrepreneurship development among engineering students. Students were also guided on the process of converting technical ideas into commercially viable products and startups.

Faculty members and experts motivated students to think beyond conventional career paths and explore innovation-driven opportunities. The event provided an interactive platform for students to understand emerging entrepreneurial ecosystems and industry expectations.

The program was organized under the guidance and support of Chairman Dr. Sanjay D. Patil, Trustees Kruturaj Patil and Pruthviraj Patil, Executive Director Dr. A. K. Gupta, Principal Dr. Santosh Bhede, Registrar Dr. Litesh Malade, along with faculty coordinators Prof. Vijay Patil, Prof. Umesh Patil, and Prof. Yogesh Chougule.
