DYPCET Students Win 10 Awards at SAE India BAJA Competition
Students of the Mechanical Engineering Department at D. Y. Patil College of Engineering & Technology, Kasaba Bawada, Kolhapur, achieved remarkable success at the prestigious national-level “SAE India BAJA 2026” competition by winning a total of 10 awards across multiple technical and performance categories.
The competition, organized annually by SAE India, is one of the country’s premier engineering design competitions where students from engineering institutions across India design, manufacture, and race All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). The event evaluates students on various technical, analytical, and performance parameters including vehicle design, stress analysis, acceleration, braking, suspension, traction, endurance, and overall engineering innovation.
Representing the college, the student team “DYP Velocity Vectors” delivered an outstanding performance and secured third position overall among 57 participating teams at the national level. The team also earned several individual category awards for excellence in design, technical analysis, durability, acceleration, suspension, traction, and overall vehicle performance.
The achievement reflects the students’ technical expertise, teamwork, innovation, and practical engineering skills developed through hands-on learning and project-based activities. The competition provided students with real-world exposure to automotive engineering, manufacturing processes, testing methodologies, and industry-oriented problem-solving approaches.
The success was achieved under the leadership of team captain Arpit Sanadi, with guidance and support from Mechanical Engineering Department Head Dr. S. J. Raykar, faculty coordinators Prof. Sameer Patil and Prof. Mahesh Jadhav, and dedicated faculty mentors.
The college management congratulated the students for bringing laurels to the institution at the national level. Chairman Dr. Sanjay D. Patil, Trustees Kruturaj Patil and Pruthviraj Patil, Executive Director Dr. A. K. Gupta, Principal Dr. Santoshkumar Bhede, and Registrar Dr. Litesh Malade appreciated the students’ achievement and encouraged them for future innovations and competitions.
